COVINGTON, Ga. — For Tariq Davis, his next soccer-playing decision after donning the blue and white Newton Rams colors was one that was all about intimacy.
Citing a good fit, Davis, The Covington News’ boys soccer player of the year, decided Andrew College was the place to be.
His senior season was spent helping guide the Newton boys soccer team to a 9-8-2 overall record while building himself up into a player ready to make the jump to the next level of play.
“At the pace I’m going right now, I felt like Andrew College was an intimate place where I can showcase and add to my craft,” he said. “They also have good degree programs.”
The 6-foot striker was one of the leaders of the Rams’ soccer squad this past season, creating several highlight style goals on his way to Cuthbert, where he hopes to make just as much of an impact as he did with the Rams. Except this time he’s looking to make that impact more immediate.
“Pre-season kicks off August 1,” he said. “I’m very excited to get there and get started.”
