COVINGTON, Ga.- Newton point guard Ashton Hagans keeps racking up the accolades.

This time it's hoopseen.com that has named the 6-foot-4 junior point guard its Georgia Class AAAAAAA Player of the Year.

The recognition comes on the heels of Hagans being named the Georgia Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year late last week. Hagans averaged more than 20 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds per game for the Newton Rams which finished their 2017-18 campaign with an 86-66 loss to Norcross in the Class AAAAAAA Final Four.

Newton finished the season ranked No. 3 in Class AAAAAAA in most state rankings and No. 4 in Georgia among all classifications in the MaxPreps rankings. With a 27-4 mark on the season, Hagans also helped Newton to back-to-back Region 8-AAAAAAA championships.

Hagans was selected for the hoopseen.com honor over standouts such as Wheeler's EJ Montgomery and McEachern's Isaac Okoro.
