The Eastside baseball team is clicking heading into a matchup with Region 4-AAA's top team.
Eastside won its second straight, defeating Eagles Landing 13-2 on Thursday.
Eastside had defeated Sandy Creek 11-6 two days earlier.
Against Eagles Landing, Eastside (15-4, 9-2) did most of its damage in the first inning, sending 17 batters to the plate.
Eastside opened the contest with 11 runs on eight hits in the first inning.
Cody Walker led off with a double to right field and Joey Mitchell reached on error to set the table for senior Keith Buckhault to hit a three run homer, his fourth homerun of the year. Continuing the hit parade with singles were Musashi Briem (2), Matt Hitchcock, David VanLeuven and Walker which led to senior Joey Mitchell coming to bat with two runners on base for his home run blast.
Daniel Garrett handled the pitching duties for Eastside and had another strong outing allowing only four hits over four innings while striking out three and only issuing one walk.
Jake Wright got in an inning of work as he pitched a scoreless fifth inning. Eastside sealed the run-rule victory in the fifth when Briem, who went 3 for 4 on the night, hustled for a triple before Jerold Sumner connected for his first homerun of the season.
It was the third straight loss for Eagles Landing (3-13, 3-8).
Eastside sits in second place in the region four games behind Spalding and three ahead of third-place Jackson.
