This year, young ladies have claimed the top academic spots at Rockdale County Magnet School for Science and Technology. Patricia Murphy has been named valedictorian and Kathryn Johnson has been named salutatorian.
Both Murphy and Johnson have attended the school since 9th grade, taking classes such as microbiology, organic chemistry and mathematics technology and problem solving.
Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology is a four-year program that focuses on student research. The program promotes unlimited discovery and academic excellence for students. Currently, there are 35 students in the 2009 graduating class.
Murphy and Johnson said they are going to miss most of the teachers in the program and commented on how close they have become to the teachers and their classmates.
