The Rockdale Rhinos 8-and-under baseball team had four members represent the state of Georgia in the Southeast Regional All-state Showcase recently.

The tournament, held Aug. 3–4 in Spartanburg, S.C., consisted of teams from Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.

Team Georgia, led by head coach Sherman Johnson and assistant coach Brent Moore, went 4–0, scoring 40 runs throughout the event.

Johnson and Moore picked 13 players from 67 Georgia teams, including Rockdale’s Landon Taylor, Colton Hood, Mason Moore and Sherman Johnson.

That same group helped the Rockdale Rhinos place first in Georgia and fourth in the nation (out of 370 teams). Rockdale also placed third in the world series, July 4–11.

The Rhinos were 30–17 in 2013, scoring 253 runs.
