After a car chase that led to a two-car collision, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) deputies arrested three suspects, who allegedly stole one of the invovled vehicles, Wednesday afternoon.

The teenaged suspects' names weren’t available at press time, but RCSO spokesperson Sgt. Andy Arnold says that they’re around the ages 18 and 19.

The vehicle, a Honda Accord, at hand was reported stolen out of DeKalb County either late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. A family member of the owner of the stolen car spotted the three suspects driving the vehicle in Rockdale County and called the RCSO around 3:15 p.m.

“There was something distinct on the car that he recognized as his family member’s car,” said Arnold.

When deputies spotted the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop, the suspects sped off down road before crashing into a Nissan passenger vehicle near the Salem Road and I-20 entrance ramp intersection.

The two passengers in the Nissan had complaints of injuries and were transported to the hospital. The injuries weren’t noticeably visible, says Arnold.

After the collision, the three suspects exited the vehicle and began to run on foot. One suspect was caught by the responding deputy almost immediately after running away, says Arnold.

To catch the other two suspects, the RCSO setup a search perimeter around the area and brought out K-9 units. The two suspects were eventually caught about 30-minutes after searching near the intersection of Dogwood Connector and Glenn Road.
