Hill named Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year

Yet another award for the stellar rising junior track and field athlete out of Rockdale County High School, Candace Hill. Hill was named the Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year on Tuesday in Los Angeles, California for the 13th annual Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year awards.

Hill, who won the Gatorade High School Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year Award in June, was honored at the awards dinner hosted by ESPN's Hannah Storm. Athletes such as J.J Watt, Draymond Green, Landon Donovan, Abby Wambach. Candace Parker and Julie Foudy were all in attendance.

Hill will walk the ESPYS red carpet and will be featured as special guests during the ESPYS which air tonight on ESPN.

Candace becomes the first sophomore ever to win Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year Honors after becoming the first high school female athlete to break the 11-second barrier just weeks ago in the 100-meter dash at the Brooks PR invitational making her the world's fastest athlete under 20 in the event this year.

Hill, who has a 4.61 GPA, is also the youngest athlete in the 30-year history of the program to win Gatorade National Player of the Year honors.
