Mr. George P. Smith, age 90, a Conyers native, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 1/2 years, Stella K. Smith. A son, Charles E. Smith, preceded him in death. He is also survived by his sister, Beth and James Hutchins of Covington; his brother, A. H. Smith of Conyers; his nieces, Karen Miller of Marietta, Renee Hansen of Watkinsville, Elizabeth Giannace of McDonough, Nancy Barden of Hoschton, Linda Warren; nephew, Lee Meadors of Covington; his only sister-in-law, Helen and Russell Dougherty of Ocala, FL. Mr. Smith was a World War II Veteran serving 5 years. He retired from General Electric Company. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery with Pastor Tom Sparks of Conyers Presbyterian Church officiating.
