Saturday, June 13, will be the opening day for the 2009 Farmer's Market in Rockdale County. The Market, located at 1400 Parker Road in Conyers, will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and Tuesday through October.
The Farmer's Market will feature local growers, such as Jimmy and Pat Harris of Conyers (shown with their yellow squash picked just for opening day). On opening day you will be able to find squash, cucumbers, potatoes, beans, onions, peas, Chinese radish and local honey.
Also, mark your calendar for July 18. The Rockdale County Cooperative Extension will host a Family Fun Day, which will feature the First Annual Peach Pie Baking Contest. Call the Extension office at 770-278-7373 for more information.
