Church daycare voted down (April 13, 2013)
IN BRIEF: The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners approved in a 2-0 vote, with Commissioner JaNice Van Ness abstaining, a special use permit for a day care at the Seventh Day Adventist church at 3001 Old Salem Road, with the stipulation that a row of trees be planted between the church property and Westchester Lakes subdivision.
Commissioner Oz Nesbitt said, afterwards, "This pastor and this church and those citizens who came out and voiced their concerns agreed to work together and find a common ground solutions. Any time people can come together and have their own solution versus having the local government make a decision on their behalf, it's much better. They came to an agreement. It worked out. That's why I supported it."
This approval came a month after another special use permit for a day care at Ebenezer United Methodist Church was not approved by the commissioners.
