Rockdale deputies caught and arrested a carjacking suspect after a brief car chase early Tuesday and are on the lookout for a second suspect that fled near the Turner Hill Road exit on I-20.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, around 2 a.m. deputies were dispatched to a Suspicious Person call at Salem Chase Apartments on Salem Road. As deputies were responding, the call turned into an Armed Robbery/Carjacking when the two suspicious persons pulled handguns on two victims and stole a wallet from one and a Pontiac Aztec SUV from the other.

The suspects fled in the vehicle but Deputy Nathan Watts spotted the Pontiac Aztec on Interstate 20 westbound near Sigman Road.
The brief chase ended at the BP gas station located at Turner Hill Road and Old Covington Highway in DeKalb County when the SUV pulled into the parking lot and the suspects tried to run from the vehicle. Deputy Watts was able to capture one suspect immediately but the other suspect ran into the woods. A perimeter was set up and K-9 units were deployed in the area until about 4:30 a.m. but the second suspect escaped. Deputy Watts also recovered a handgun with the arrested suspect.

The suspect arrested was Marshall Martin Graham, 22, of Lithonia. Graham is currently being held without bond in the Rockdale County Jail. He is currently being held on a charge of Armed Robbery, but more charges are likely. Investigators are working to identify the second suspect, described as a black male wearing a red bandanna over his face, who was armed with a handgun.

"I want to commend Deputy Watts and the other responding deputies for their quick response and apprehension of the one suspect," said Sheriff Eric Levett. "While we are glad to have the one suspect in the Rockdale County Jail, we will not be satisfied until the second suspect is behind bars as well. Now, our attention is going to focus on apprehending the second suspect."
