A gift for local nonprofits

Christmas came early this year for 19 local nonprofit groups.

The Community Foundation of Newton County awarded grants totaling $24,200 to these groups.

Despite the fact that fundraising was down, the foundation’s board of directors made a wise decision to spread the wealth around to more nonprofits this year.

Last year $31,650 was given to 14 nonprofit agencies.

The Newton County Community Foundation was formed in 2000 by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta in order to ensure that the local trust funds and donations placed in their care by benevolent donors reached the folks of our county directly.

We praise the stewardship of this very worthwhile organization and encourage you, if you have a desire to support or pay back the community that has been good to you, to contact Director Tamara Richardson for more information on how you can do that in a safe, trustworthy way. She can be reached at (770) 788-2250 or by e-mail at trichardson4@aol.com.
