Letter to the Editor: Thanks from the Miracle League

Dear Editor: The Miracle League of Newton County had a great Opening Weekend at Colonel Cob's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch, Sept. 17-18. Special, special thanks to Tommy and Emy Mitcham (along with their entire family) for graciously opening up their Corn Maze to benefit The Miracle League. Children of all ages enjoyed the many activities out at the farm: the corn maze, cow train, jumpy cow inflatable... and of course the magnificent big, white, slippery slide.
Additional special thanks to Stan and Mary Edwards who worked the Miracle League booth the entire weekend. Some wonderful, local entertainment was lined up (thanks again to Mary Edwards): Shane Millwood and Libby Allen, Steve Biggers and the Little Gum Creek Band, April Draper, Sole Momentum Cloggers, Special Olympic Families (Mark McGiboney, Will and Travis Fisher, Madison, Sauls, Hailey Chiappetta, Seth Banks and Cameron Moore), Coley Edwards, Drew Parker, David Tinoco and Hannah Thomas and Friends - thank you to all. BB&T also graciously provided volunteers during the weekend - many thanks for this local financial institution's ongoing support of our Miracle League Project.
On behalf of the over 2,400 special needs children and youth of our community, thank you to the citizens of Newton and surrounding counties for attending this fundraising event for The Miracle League.
