Dear editor: It was wonderful to see all of the citizens of Covington who joined the musicians, children’s choir and local elected officials to enjoy the lighting of the Christmas lights at the county courthouse.

What would have been a wonderful and fun evening for everyone was turned into a town hall meeting. This was a result of a thorough review of county and city business and a listing of the accomplishments of various public and private citizens during the past year

All of our citizens and family members are grateful for the progressive leadership that represents our city and county and that continues to prevent the unbridled commercial development that destroyed the beauty and charm of Conyers; however, it would be a true holiday gift if the review of civic affairs could be scheduled for a better venue. This would allow everyone to sing along with the choir and enjoy the wonderful musicians who were at the courthouse for our enjoyment.
