Cemetery Respect

Dear Editor: My father and my hero, Ray Howard, passed away on April 5, 2009. He was a World War II veteran, member of the Covington Lions Club, American Legion and Covington First Baptist Church. He was a Newton General Hospital Auxiliary volunteer serving over 3500 hours...and he loved the Georgia Bulldogs attending most home games for some 40 plus years. As a tribute, my family has placed several small Bulldog flags in his flower arrangement at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Unfortunately, these have been removed and the arrangements have been destroyed. I even wrote a note on the last flag, but it was still defaced in his marker vase. I don’t know who is responsible for this absolute lack of respect, but I hope and pray that you are reading this today. Taking something that does not belong to you, in this country, is called stealing. Although you have not been caught by the local authorities, you will someday have to answer to the ultimate authority. My Daddy will be there waiting on you to get his flag back so make sure you bring it with you.
