Mr. Roy Benson Lane Sr., 64, of Porterdale, passed away June 6. Daddy Roy, as he was affectionately known, loved spending time with his family.

He also enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar and singing. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred B. Lane and Fairy Bell (Garner) Lane Newman; and his sisters Patsy Allen and Kay Bagwell.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Lane of Porterdale; daughter and son-in-law Stacey and Kevin Ellis of Oxford; sons Benson Lane, Jason Lane, both of Covington; grandchildren Josh and Ashley Ellis of Newborn, Cody Ellis of Oxford, Jacob and Taylor Lane, both of Covington; great-grandchildren Emily and Delainey Ellis of Newborn; two step-daughters; three step-grandchildren; brothers Bill Lane, Johnny Loyd, Lonnie Loyd, Freddie Lane; sister Faye Drake; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Lane Sr., will be held 2 p.m. today, June 9, at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. Jerry Barrett officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.

The family received friends at the funeral home yesterday.
