Oscar L. Holmes of Covington, passed away May 26, 2011, at the age of 81. Mr. Holmes was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Red Oak United Methodist Church. He was a licensed insurance agent, since 1955, and his license was still active at the time of his death. Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar L., Sr., and Julia (Jones) Holmes.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jimmie Ruth C. Holmes; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Tammy Holmes; brother-in-law, Tony Chandler, all of Covington.

Funeral Services for Mr. Holmes will be held Sunday, May 29, 2011, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd., with Rev. Allen Green officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, May 28, from 5-8 PM.
