Ms. Myra “Lynn” Gibbs, age 52, of Oxford, formerly of Lithonia passed away June 26, 2014.  She was born November 9, 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Lithonia, Georgia.  Lynn graduated from Margaret Harris School in Decatur.  She was a loving, caring, kind person who would light up the room with her smile.  Lynn loved music and was a football fan, she loved the Lithonia Bulldogs when her brother played and the Loganville Red Devils when her niece’s cheered and her nephew’s played.  Lynn enjoyed working and going to the workshop with her many friends.  She worked for East Dekalb Daycare helping take care of the children alongside her mother.  Lynn loved unconditionally and everyone that came in contact with her knew it and loved her as well.  She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she attended with her mother.  Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Howard “Shotgun” “Buttermilk” Gibbs.

She is survived by her mother Janelle Gibbs of Oxford, her sisters and brothers-in-law Joy and Allen Cole and Dawn and Michael Berkhan of Loganville, her brother Marty Gibbs of Oxford, her nieces and nephews Ryan and Morgan Hurkmans, Hannah Berkhan, Haley Hurkmans and Barry Irvin and Cody Berkhan, her great nephew Brentley David Irvin and her loving caregiver Monica Dallas along with a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Gibbs will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend William Herndon officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, June 27, 2014.  J.C.
