Ms. Maxine Cosby Harris departed this earthly life On Nov. 13. On April 26, 1967, Maxine Cosby was born in Morgan County, to the late Freeman Cosby, Sr. and Betty Clemons. The family later moved to Newton County, where she was educated in the Newton County School System. She was united in matrimony in 1997 to Mr. Larry Harris. The union was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Layonna.

At the center of her life was Maxine's love for Christ, her family and her church family. She enjoyed worshipping at Emmanuel Community Church, and caring for and loving her family. Maxine had a sweet gentle caring spirit, with an outspoken personality and a good sense of humor. She was a kind, loving, generous and helpful woman. Never did she turn away a friend in need, or not extend a helping hand to anyone who asked. A courageous person, she was always positive and kept the spirits of the family lifted throughout her illness. She was family oriented and loyal to all. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a daughter: Layonna Harris; siblings: Darrell Ruff, Earl (Montine) Clemons, William (Tammy) Clemons, Terri Cosby, Pat (Alfred) Shepherd, Stacy Cosby, Steve Cosby, Freeman (Tresnesa) Cosby, Jr.; grandfather: Alphonso White; nieces and nephews: Takeita (Jerrick) Bell, Chase Brown, Kadija Lackey, Jamal Cosby, Jammall Lackey, Desmond Cosby, Alexia Shepherd, J'Veonte Clemons; great niece; Haidyn Bell; a host of uncles, aunts and other loving relatives and dear friends.

Funeral Services for Ms. Maxine will be Saturday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Community Church in Conyers. Rev. Eric Suddith, pastor; Rev. Gary Favors, eulogist. Interment: Sims Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home is today from 12-9 p.m.; family hour 6-8 p.m.
