Ms. Linda Hammond, 65, of Covington, passed away Dec. 20. She enjoyed cooking, working in her yard and taking care of animals. Ms. Hammond loved the Lord Jesus Christ and because she had a heart of gold, she enjoyed helping those less fortunate, especially during the holiday season. Most important, Ms. Hammond was a devoted mother, granny, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Von and Nannie Elizabeth (Berrong) Arrowood.
Survivors include her son Jody Hammond of Covington; grandchildren Lindsey and Kristopher Simmons of Loganville, Jake Hammond, Nick Hammond, both of Covington; great-grandson Westin Simmons of Loganville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Leta and J.T. Garrett of Hiawassee; Lois Collins of Covington; Lucy Oakes of Hiawassee; Lannie and David Ledford of Hiawassee; brothers and sisters-in-law Ernest and Mary Arrowood of Pendleton, S.C.; Edwin and Mavis Arrowood, Emmitt and Dianna Arrowood, all of Hiawassee; Elliot and Pam Arrowood of Hayesville, N.C.; Eldon Arrowood of Hiawassee; lifelong friend Madonna Paige of Covington; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service for Ms. Hammond will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 22, at Lower Hightower Baptist Church, in Hiawassee, with Minister Brandon Arrowood officiating and interment following in the church cemetery.
