Jonah Bryce Barnett, 11, of Covington, died Friday, Aug. 9, at his residence. Jonah was born in Dublin and was a member of High Point Baptist Church in Covington where he lived the past four years. He attended the seventh grade at Cousins Middle School. His journey touched the lives of many and his testimony was touching to all that he met. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Grady Barnett Sr.

Surviving are parents, Patrick and Lynice Barnett of Covington; sister, Anna Barnett of Covington; brothers, Austin Barnett and Carson Barnett of Covington; maternal grandparents, John and Janice Cadwell of Eastman; paternal grandmother, Marilyn W. Barnett of Eastman; maternal great-grandparents, Mazie and Jimmy Pruett Sr. of Eastman; aunts, Bonnie Barrs (Bill) of Dexter, Diane Selph (Wayne) of Eastman, and Iris Jo Gandy (Jim) of Waynesville; uncles, Grady Barnett Jr. (Lisa) of Yorktown, Va., and Michael Barnett (Brenda) of Hawkinsville; numerous great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held Aug. 12 in Grace Baptist Church with Mr. John Cadwell and the Rev. Chris Dotson officiating. Interment was in Orphans Cemetery, with the Rev. David Marshall officiating. A memorial service for Jonah will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at High Point Baptist Church in Covington.
