John Harold “Andy” Anderson, Jr. of Oxford, passed away June 30, 2011 at Newton Medical Center.  He was 76 years old at the time of his death.  Mr. Anderson, affectionately known as Buck, enjoyed being a “Ride-Along” with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department.  He also enjoyed family karaoke, as well as collecting guns and art.  Mr. Anderson had a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Ann (Trump) Anderson and parents, John Harold Anderson, Sr., and Lois Marie Anderson Tapley, and great-grandson, Jackson Kirkus.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Anderson, Cheryl and David Johnson, Pamela and Dean Mayo, Laura and Jim Brown, all of Covington; step sons, Brad Slane and wife Karen of Conyers, James Slane and wife Toni of Arlington, TX, Michael Slane and wife Karen of Helena, AL; grandchildren, David and Troup Kirkus, Angela Wilde, Cynthia and Trent Whitley, Tamara Hinson, Tabatha Osborn, Tony Floyd, Wesley and Justin Mayo, Jimmy Brown, Tiffany Boyd, Cameron, Conner, Kayla, Gabriel, and Jimmy Slane; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Anderson of Conyers; sister, Eleanor “Bill” Atcheson of Stone Mountain; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Anderson will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Belmont Baptist Church with Pastor Nolan Jackson officiating, and interment following in Oxford Historical Cemetery.  Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Newton County Sheriff’s Department.
