Charlotte Virginia Mann Demarest, 81, of Covington  went to be with the Lord May 7 after losing her battle with cancer. She was born in 1928, the daughter of Hunter Merrill and Elizabeth Moore Mann. She was the oldest of three siblings. On September 1, 1947, she married Livingston Miller Demarest, who went before her to be with our Lord. Mrs. Demarest was also preceded in death by their sons Robert and Rusty Demarest. Mrs. Demarest was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as an accomplished musician. She served Jesus and her church all of her life with her musical gifts and abilities as a soloist, choir director, organist, and pianist and church secretary. She gave of her talents at numerous churches in the Atlanta area including St. John’s Methodist, Georgia Avenue Presbyterian, Wee Kirk Presbyterian Church, Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Buford Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Demarest is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ginger and Nelson DeBrosse; grandchildren Rebecca and David Strickland, Dave and Kristin Curylo, Rob Curylo, Kate and Lyle Lastinger, James Demarest; great-grandchildren Grace and Julia Strickland and Jack Demarest; brothers and their wives Hunter and Paula Mann and Edward and Mary Ann Mann; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted family and church friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 8 at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Burial followed at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Her son-in-law and pastor the Rev. Nelson DeBrosse officiated. The family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
