Wheeler Funeral Home and Crematory

Catherine “Cassie” L. Corley, 57 of Crawfordville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 26, 2016. She was born in Covington, Georgia to Otis and Aslee Crowe Corley.  Cassie was born with some challenges but she never let that hold her back.  She was confined to a wheelchair the last four years of her life while she battled cancer but was the happiest she had ever been.  Cassie made the most of what she had and moved on.

She loved singing, music, especially country and gospel; and enjoyed vacations with her family. She loved her family and friends, was a “social butterfly,” who never met a stranger and loved everyone she came into contact with.

Cassie was treated like a queen at the group house she lived in and everyone there loved her so much. She was an inspiration to all because of the way she handled everything life had thrown at her and still faced each day with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.

Cassie is preceded in death by her parents Otis and Aslee Corley; brother Larry Corley; and sisters Mary Corley, Hazel Corley and Julie Woodruf. She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Otis Jr. and Margaret Corley, Ricky and Robbie Corley; sister, Johnnie Corley; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Pastors Danny Harrell and Rob Raynor officiating. Interment followed at Liberty Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a gracious and heartfelt thank you to Ms. Carrie Bradley and the entire staff of the group home for the care, love and support they gave to Cassie and for treating her like extended family.
