Bill M. Skinner of Covington, died August 3, 2009, at the age of 62. A resident of Newton County for more than 50 years, he retired from Hercules after 34 years. “Mr. Fix-It”, as he was known to family and friends, was considered a jack-of-all-trades, and could fix anything. He liked antique cars, Nascar racing, going to the beach, and enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Skinner dearly loved family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester (Buster) and Genora Elizabeth Phillips Skinner; and brother, Terry Skinner. Survivors include his loving wife, Connie Skinner, God-Daughters, Katie Campbell, Amanda, and husband, Ben Brand, all of Covington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Minnie and Hoyt Bruce, Martha Jones, all of Covington, Dianne and Don Benke of Jackson, Kathy and Teddy Owens of Covington; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Dianne Skinner, Roger Skinner, all of Covington; sister-in-law, Sally Nichols; several nieces, nephews, and good friends. Funeral Services for Mr. Skinner will be held Thursday, August 6, 2009, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., with Rev. Ricky Bruce officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, August 5, from 6-9 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 10 Almon Church Rd., Covington, GA 30014; or Almon Baptist Church, 122 Almon Rd., Covington, GA 30014.
