Allie Parish of Covington, passed away June 29, 2010, at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Evie (Haynes) Lunsford. Mrs. Parish and her late husband, William Howard Parish, owned and operated Parish Grocery until retirement in 1980. Mrs. Parish enjoyed gardening, reading, and was a friend to all stray animals. She would feed them all because she couldn’t stand to see anything around her go hungry. She was a member of the local AARP and attended several trips with them. Mrs. Parish loved her family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dempsey Lunsford and Hollis Lunsford. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Howard Gouge of Covington, Penny and Jim Windham of Oxford; grandchildren, John and Laverne Gouge of Gainesville, Scott Gouge of Covington, Brian and Patricia Gouge of Norcross, James and Bettina Windham of England, Chris and Emilie Windham of Acworth, Dr. Mark and Beth Dennis of Conyers; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Parish will be held Friday, July 2, 2010, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, July 1, from 6-8 PM.
