DECATUR - Police in DeKalb County say they are investigating how thieves were able to break into 36 police vehicles in the county's maintenance yard.
WSB-TV reports that a worker who arrived Friday morning found trunks open, windows shattered and locks popped on the police cars.
Fleet manager Greg Brake said the thieves were pretty bold.
Police said they made off with some radios, a police jacket, a laptop, a GPS unit and a camera.
Authorities said they aren't sure how the thieves gained access to the lot, which is surrounded by metal fencing and gates.
They said private security guards also patrol the lot, and they are investigating how the thieves got past the security measures.
