MANSFIELD, Ga. (AP) — Georgia wildlife officials are offering a series of workshops intended to encourage women to embrace outdoor activities.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is sponsoring the Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop series Nov. 7-9 at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield.

The hands-on workshops aim to provide a safe and supportive learning environment. They are open to women of all ages and physical ability levels. They are meant to break down barriers to women's participation in outdoor activities.

Participants will receive instruction in a variety of activities, including hunting and shooting, fishing and boating, as well as canoeing, camping and tree climbing.

While the classes will be designed for beginners, organizers say more experienced participants can hone their skills and try new activities.
