ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Police say a University of Georgia football player is facing a charge of aggravated assault, a felony.

University of Georgia Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor was arrested early Tuesday after a confrontation at McWhorter Hall on the campus.

Williamson told The Athens Banner-Herald (http://bit.ly/1kOZY6g) that the alleged victim, a woman, had "visible signs of injuries about her neck."

Clarke County Jail reports show that Taylor, whose address is listed as McWhorter Hall, was booked into the facility shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday. He was being held without bond. The jail records not indicate whether he has an attorney.
