CONYERS, Ga. (AP) — Firefighters are helping to raise money for a co-worker who was at work when he heard a fire call for his own home.

WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1AhChOA) that Kee Moss was working as a fire medic in DeKalb County when he heard the call over his radio shortly before Christmas.

The station reports that he frantically tried to make contact with his 10-year-old daughter, who was home at the time with her older sister. The girls tried to throw water on the fire before deciding to escape.

By the time fire crews got to the house in Rockdale County, it was heavily damaged.

Now the Rockdale County fire department is raising money for him and his family. Moss also works as a paramedic in Rockdale County.
