Social Circle welcome center repairs continue

Social Circle’s welcome center remains closed as crews continue to clean up from a fire that struck the structure on June 2.

The center is expected to reopen by month’s end, according to Mike Miller, director of Social Circle Better Hometown. Until then, Miller is working out of donated space in a warehouse and out of city hall.

Miller said Wednesday that they had considered opening a temporary office, but that would have been too costly considering the short time the repairs would take. Estimates on damages are unavailable, he said.
