A local high school student was in the custody of the Newton County Sheriff’s Office Thursday afternoon after being arrested on campus.
The 17-year-old Newton High School student was arrested Thursday morning after the school was given an anonymous tip that he had marijuana on him, according to NCSO Investigator Jeff Alexander. Administrators searched his vehicle and found less than one ounce of marijuana, two small glass bongs and a steak knife and was charged for possession of a weapon and marijuana on school grounds.
An incident report had not yet been completed as of Thursday afternoon.
