Lions Club Chicken Barbecue on April 8

The Covington Lions Club Chicken Barbecue is back for its 37th year of serving up finger-licking vittles.

The barbecue will be on April 8, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Academy Springs Park Pavilion on Conyers Street. Plates are $6 each and include a barbecue half chicken, coleslaw, chips and iced tea. Desserts are also available for an additional fee.

"It’s one of our biggest fundraisers," said Doreen Stallworth, of the Covington Lions Club. She said the club had purchased 3,200 half chickens in preparation for the event, to ensure that there would be enough for everyone.

Orders for 20 or more plates can be delivered within close proximity to the park. A drive through station will also be set up at the American Legion building across the street.

For tickets, contact any Lions Club member or call Earl Stallworth at (770) 860-1414. For more information, go to www.covingtongalions.org
