WAYCROSS - Authorities say a 49-year-old Waycross man was shot to death and a woman was wounded during a home invasion.

They were attacked around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police say a preliminary investigation found they were asleep at the time of the intrusion.

Police also said it appeared that both were shot even though they complied with the directions of their assailant. The man was shot multiple times and died at the scene, and the woman was shot in the leg and is expected to recover. Police have not yet released their names.

Police say they're searching for suspects.
