Former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes was in Newton County Monday, attending a reception for Newton County Board of Commissioners Chair candidate Phil Johnson.

Barnes, who met with people from all political parties and election races at The Oaks Golf Course, endorsed Johnson for chair recently. Attendees included Commissioners Lanier Sims and Nancy Schulz, Covington Mayor Ronnie Johnston, Porterdale Mayor Arlene Chapman, Sheriff Ezell Brown and many others, both Democrat and Republican.
