COVINGTON, Ga. – More than 3,000 people turned out for early voting in this year’s primary election in Newton County.
According to numbers provided by the Newton County Board of Elections, 3,089 total votes were cast during the early voting period with 263 of those being through absentee ballots.
On the Democratic side, a total of 1,739 votes were tallied, with 163 being submitted through absentee ballots.
In the Non-Partisan election, 77 in-person votes were cast and only one absentee ballot has been received.
The Republican in-person voters brought in 1,273 votes and 99 absentee votes.
