Washington Street Community Center is gearing up for their after school homework tutorial program and is seeking volunteers to help.
The annual program will begin on Sept. 21 and will tutor grades four through nine on Monday and Tuesday, and kindergarten through third grade on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The sessions are from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. throughout the school year and a nutritious snack is served each day.
The center is currently seeking volunteer tutors to help with the program Monday through Thursday. According to t Bea Jackson, the center’s executive director, they are actively seeking tutors, especially those proficient in math. Teens are welcome and can be trained by the staff at the center to tutor the students.
Registration for the homework tutorial program begins Aug. 17 and parents must register their child in person at the center.
