Amy Chambers of Covington received her Master of Education from Western Governors University. The online-non-profit university awarded over 200 graduate degrees at its semi-annual commencement ceremony held in Salt Lake City July 17.

Newton students receive Piedmont degrees

Dinah Faye Nelson and Natheia Tamara Warner, both of Covington, were among the 398 students receiving degrees from Piedmont College at the recent July commencement ceremony in Demorest. Nelson and Warner each earned education specialist (Ed.S.) degrees.

Lauren Adele Preston, a resident of Covington has earned am Associate in Science in Nursing from Excelsior College, Albany, N.Y.

History was made on Tuesday night when longtime Newton County Schools (NCS) employee Chandra Mitchell was named the inaugural Newton County Schools district-wide “HERO.”
