Newton students receive Piedmont academic honor

Five students from Newton County have earned academic honors for fall semester at Piedmont College.

Kayce J. Jones and Sophia Momin of Covington were named to the Dean's List, and Taylor R. Ray and Wendy R. Shivers of Covington and Megan A. Studdard of Mansfield were named Dean's Scholars.

Students named as Dean's Scholars earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, and students named to the Dean's List earned a grade-point average of 3.5 to 3.99.

Piedmont College is an independent liberal arts college of about 2,800 students with campuses in Demorest and Athens, Ga. Founded in 1897, the college offers undergraduate degrees in 32 major areas, master's degrees in education and business, and a doctorate degree in education.
