Early release day for students

Students will be released early Friday for parent/teacher conferences.

Elementary school students, including students at Newton County Theme School, will be released at 11:15 a.m. Friday. High school students will get out at 12:15 p.m., while middle schoolers will be released at 1:15 p.m.

Students will be served lunch prior to dismissal, and all bus riders will be transported to their normal bus stops.

According to information from the Newton County School System, all parents are encouraged to schedule a parent/teacher conference to discuss the academic progress of their child/children.

History was made on Tuesday night when longtime Newton County Schools (NCS) employee Chandra Mitchell was named the inaugural Newton County Schools district-wide “HERO.”
