COVINGTON, Ga. - Covington Police Department (CPD) Captain Ken Malcom confirmed Terence Lee Lennox has been released from the hospital but not taken into custody for his outstanding charges.

Lennox was hospitalized following a June 24 shooting incident in the Bank of North Georgia parking lot on Highway 278. Lennox was shot by Marcus Alan Pitts, of Covington, after he led CPD on a pursuit, caused a car accident and fled from police. Pitts reportedly witnessed the accident and was attempting to stop Lennox himself.

According to the CPD incident report, contraband items were located in Lennox's Chevrolet Tahoe after the incident. Police reportedly found a contact lens case containing suspected marijuana and a suspected Xanax pill, a small glass container with suspected methamphetamine, a glass smoking pipe and a cell phone. He also reportedly had a warrant out for his arrest.

Pitts was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was granted bond two days later and released from jail.
