NCSO seeks rapper as person of interest in weekend shooting
Newton County Sheriff's Office

COVINGTON, Ga. – Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a person of interest in an early morning weekend shooting that left three houses hit by bullets.

According to a NCSO incident report, deputies responded to a house on Cindy Circle at around 1:16 a.m. Aug. 5 on a report of a discharged gun. While units were en route, the Covington/Newton County 911 Center received several calls about the shooting and the call was changed to aggravated assault with a gun.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they made contact with a resident who advised of the location of the house the shots were fired toward. According to the report, when deputies went to that house, they were told that a “kick back” had ended with a shooting and multiple teens getting into cars and speeding off.

NCSO spokesperson Sgt. Cortney Morrison said the shooting was a result of a verbal altercation between two males at the party.  No one was struck by the gunfire but the targeted house and two others on Cindy Circle were hit by bullets.

Morrison said investigators are looking for a male named Marco who also goes by the name “Booth” as a person of interest in the incident. Marco is described as a light-skinned, black male with a small afro. He reportedly drives a yellow car and is also known to be a rap artist.

NCSO is asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact Investigator Brent Morrison at 678-625-1442. You can also provide information by contacting the anonymous tip line at 678-625-5007 or newtonsheriffga.org where you can remain anonymous.
