COVINGTON, Ga. - The Newton County Sheriff's Office is hosting a “Recruitment Round-Up” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at the law enforcement facility located at 15151 Alcovy Road in Covington. Detention officer, deputy sheriff, and deputy sheriff bailiff positions are available.
Recruitment personnel will be conducting onsite screenings of applicants who have met the minimum qualifications and have submitted their application by April 12. Please plan to be present for the entire four-hour event. All qualified applicants will receive an invitation to this event, via email, and must RSVP at careers@newtonsheriffga.org to attend. Please place in subject line: Recruitment Round-Up.
On the day of the event, interested applicants must bring their birth certificate, high school diploma, driver’s license, and a current, full motor vehicle report. If applicable, applicants should also bring military DD214 form, certified college transcripts (sealed), any name change documents, Accuplacer scores, and/or citizenship papers. Also, those who have passed the screening process will immediately be given an interview date.

Minimum qualifications include but are not limited to:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Georgia POST Peace Officers Certification (deputy sheriff positions) or Accuplacer Scores (Reading – 55; Writing, 60)
- Valid driver's license
