Lockdown over at Eastside

COVINGTON, Ga. – Things are back to normal at Eastside High School this afternoon after a bomb threat resulted in a lockdown earlier today.

Newton County Schools’ Director of Public Relations Sherri Davis told The Covington News that the school was placed on a preventative lockdown this morning after school officials received an emailed threat.

Newton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Michael Gregg said NCSO deputies and K9s, along with the bomb squad and K9s from the DeKalb County Police Department and deputies from Walton County SO searched the school and did not locate anything suspicious.

Gregg said NCSO will be investigating the threat.
