Counterfeit money used in Covington

COVINGTON, Ga. – The Covington Police Department (CPD) is investigating the appearance of counterfeit money April 14 at three city businesses.

According to CPD reports, officers responded to reports of counterfeit $100 bills at Petsense and Hibbett Sports in the Newton Plaza shopping center on Hwy-278. Another fake $100 bill was reportedly presented down the road at Tubby Tom’s Sports Bar and Grill as payment for a food order.

According to the reports, in two of the incidents store employees were able to determine that the bills were counterfeit and the suspect left without buying anything.
