COVINGTON, Ga. — Two 18-year-old men were among the suspects in a kidnapping and robbery plot this week.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office has said Antonio Rodrickez Usher and Mark Antonia White, both of 580 Mountainview Drive, Covington, were arrested Wednesday.

Antonio Usher
Antonio Rodrickez Usher, 18, of Covington, was arrested Wednesday, June 13, 2018, and charged on five counts including armed robbery and kidnapping.
Three people were arrested at Wells Fargo on Highway 142 North on Wednesday afternoon in what Covington police first thought was a bank robbery. Instead, a man asking for money said he had been taken to the bank and ordered to get money.

The victim had been taken from his home in an unincorporated part of the county, pistol-whipped and driven to the bank. After a standoff, three suspects were arrested.

Mark White
Mark Antonia White, 18, of Covington, was arrested Wednesday, June 13, 2018, and charged on five counts including armed robbery and kidnapping.
Deputies released the names of two suspects — Usher and White — late Thursday. The third name has not been released, which could indicate a juvenile suspect.

Both Usher and White were identified as students. Both face charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of certain crimes, all felonies, plus misdemeanor criminal trespassing and theft.

Bond was denied for both suspects, and they remained in the Newton County Detention Center on Friday morning.

Kidnapping convictions carry a prison sentence of 10 to 20 years in Georgia.
