MONROE, Ga. — Two people died in weekend shootings in the same neighborhood in Monroe.
Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are looking into the deaths in the Tanglewood neighborhood.
The first happened when violence broke out during a party on Tanglewood Drive at about midnight Saturday. Police said 43-year-old Darrin Bernard Barnes, of Duluth, died.

Then, at about 6 p.m. Sunday, Monroe police and the Georgia State Patrol responded to a call of a person shot and unresponsive at 226A Tanglewood Lane. Upon arrival, officers found 33-year-old Shaun Barfield, of Monroe. The Walton County coroner’s office pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police said they could not immediately determine if the deaths of Barnes and Barfield were related, but said detectives and GBI agents were working several leads in both cases.
Investigators from the Walton County district attorney’s office also were part of the case.
