Music fans have the opportunity to come down to the Covington Square Park to enjoy a live band, try some of the downtown restaurants and shop in nearby stores during the Concert Under the Stars event starting at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22.

The event is sponsored by Main Street Covington, and they are bringing in Ty Reynolds and his band, which specializes in covering classics such as those by Billy Joel.

The concert, Main Street Director Velinda Hardy said, is being put on to bring even more people to Covington’s downtown.

“The timing was just perfect,” Hardy said. “There were no other events happening and it seemed great to open before Christmas.”

Hardy said she selected Oct. 22 as the date to host the concert, due to the fact that it is a bye week for the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech football teams.

“We live, sleep, breathe football, and it would be cool to do a concert for the people,” Hardy said.
