A vigil is being held on the square Saturday, but this one has a humorous twist. It's for the characters of the TV show The Vampire Diaries who died in the season one and two finales.
Jessica Lowery, owner of Mystic Falls Tours and host of Variety Radio Online, is hosting the vigil at 7 p.m., Saturday on the square. The event is free to attend, but a memorial fund is being set to honor fans' favorite deceased characters.
All proceeds will go to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, a North Georgia non-profit group dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats. Actor Robert Pralgo is a supporter of the charity and will attend the vigil if he is town.
Minister Josh Reid-Davis will be speaking and attendees are encouraged to bring candles and a blanket. Candles will be for sale at the event.
Sherwood's Flowers & Gifts has agreed to donate flowers for the event and Square Perk Cafe is going to stay open late for vigil attendees. For more information visit the Variety Radio Online Facebook page.
Earlier in the day, Lowery's Mystic Falls Tours company will be holding a garden party at Worthington Manor, also known as Lockwood Mansion in The Vampire Diaries.
The garden party will cost $20 per person and is from 2 to 4 p.m. Part of the proceeds will be used to pay the homeowners and 10 percent of the process will also go to Angels Among Us.
Attendees will be able to take pictures on the grounds, and light refreshments will be provided.
