COVINGTON, Ga. - Get ready to run (or walk) where the stars walk when you register for the Covington Fuzz Run! The 34thAnnual Fuzz Run will be held on Sept. 9, and includes a 5K race, 1-mile fun run/walk and Mary Beth’s Bird Run (Dash).

Hosted by the Covington Police Department (CPD), the Fuzz Run 5K race is one of the largest participatory events in Covington, with more than 3,500 participants anticipated this year.

With Covington being dubbed The Hollywood of the South, you’ll quickly know why everyone wants to participate in the Fuzz Run 5K. The course goes through Historic Downtown Covington, along gentle hills and past beautiful homes and businesses that were used in popular film and TV productions. As you run or walk, you’ll pass familiar sights from “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “In the Heat of the Night” and more than 60 other productions.

The Fuzz Run has also been voted “Best Race in Georgia” for four consecutive years by runners participating in the "Run and See Georgia Grand Prix Series".

Managed by Orion Racing, the race is professionally timed and a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier. Starting and ending at the Covington Police Department, the 1-mile fun run begins at 8 a.m., followed by Mary Beth’s Bird Run (Dash) for ages 5 and under at 8:15 a.m. The 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will be overall and age group awards given for the 5K race. The top three boys and top three girls will receive awards for the fun run/walk.

An expo will precede the race on Friday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registration packets will be available at the expo or on the day of the race. Race day registration begins at 6 a.m. on Sept. 9.

Individual pre-registration costs $25 for the 5K and ends Aug. 25. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by August 25th. Late registration starts on August 26th and is only available online for $30 until Sept. 6. Race day registration is $35. To run the 1-mile fun run, registration is $25. T-shirts are guaranteed to all pre-registered runners. The cost for kids age 5 and under for Mary Beth’s Red Bird Run (Dash) is $10 and includes a t-shirt.

All proceeds raised from the Fuzz Run will go to the Police Who Care, Inc. (PWC) Fund to support local charitable organizations and families of officers who have died in the line of duty. Sponsorships are also available.
